Piers Lawrence Quartet

Piers Lawrence is a soulful, melodic guitarist and prolific songwriter. Based in NYC, he's the founder of JazzNet Media, Inc. an independent record label & media company that produced his nationally-acclaimed CD, "Stolen Moments" featuring his quartet and including well-known standards as well as original compositions.

As leader of The PIERS LAWRENCE QUARTET, he plays at many of New York City's finest jazz venues including The Iridium, Kitano, Minton's Playhouse & the Sugar Bar, as well as for Premier Private Corporate Events for IBM, Cisco Systems, Young & Rubicam, Dow Jones, Billboard Magazine, Bryant Park Jazz Festival, Friends of Hudson River Park Jazz Festival & the United Nations.

Piers was born in Manhattan and raised in San Francisco and Switzerland. He studied Guitar and Composition at the Conservatoire de Musique de Lausanne. In the early 1980's, he played with the Jazz-Mobile Orchestra and studied with jazz greats Barry Galbraith and Ted Dunbar. Broadway shows include "Guys and Dolls', 'Dancin', 'Hubie' and 'Your Arms Too Short to Box With God'. As a lead guitarist, Piers toured with Wilson Picket, Esther Phillips, Phyllis Hyman, The Caribbean Allstars and Merl Saunders and has shared the stage with many great musicians including Narada Michael Walden, Phil Collins, Sammy Figueroa, Hiram Bullock, Lou Soloff, Ronny Cuber as well as Rueben Wilson, Jimmy Heath & Tommy Flannigan. Artists who have played with the Piers Lawrence Quartet include Dennis Williams (O'Jays), Jim Hankins, Wayne Batchelor, Dennis Heaven, Chuk Fowler, Earl Grice, Clyde Alford, Sam Knight and Ricky Gordon.

RICHARD MANTEL has been Art Director of Epic Records; Columbia Records; Atlantic Records; and CTI Records. For five years he was a member of the Push Pin Studios. He has won a multitude of awards for his work, including a Grammy award for best record cover design for the Thelonius Monk album, "Underground".
